an announcement...
March 11, 2002            posted by Velaskin
Hiyas,
as some of you might have noticed, I'm more than just overdue with updates to this site. I'm sorry to tell you, that this is gonna be the final state.
Due to recent developments and due to my still overpresent lack of time, the site won't be updated anymore in its actual form.

The content as of now will stay available until I've finished the refurbished site (which might take some time *g*). The new site tho will probably not contain a regularily updated log section anymore. Along with that the ranking system will become obsolete as well.

The new site will be a supplemental to the fetish "female and mixed fighting". Other sections, aside from the daily log post, which already exist or were planned, will be build up more. Of course everyone will be encouraged to send me logs or whatever to get it posted.

I know that some of you see this log and ranking section as the most vital part of the site. In fact I see it the same way. But circumstances and quite some thoughts leave me with no other choice.

-Velaskin-

happy new year for you and all the ones you love =)

Happy New Year !!!
Ok folks... I'm sure I've earned one or the other bad words from you, but bear with me. I haven't abandoned the site. It's just still a major lack of time to get things done here. Right now I'm working as fast as I can to get all the logs online and the get the changes done due to the new year. Please stay tuned...
... and one fine sunny day I'll be able to post something different than a mere apology...

... back from the dead
November 3, 2001            posted by Velaskin
So well... I'm truly sorry, that I couldn't do any updates to the site during the past two months. Real life issues kept me away from it... Some of you might have heard, what had happened. Anyway, none of the logs is missed (hopefully, since at times I got some connection difficulties...).
The logs will be online within the next couple of days.

/me is back...
August 31, 2001            posted by Velaskin
So well... I truly hope, that one fine day I'll be able to post anything other than an apology inhere. It almost appears, as if not the news are being posted, but a rough follow up of saying sorry...

Anyways, I hope you're still with me after this month of not having any logs posted. By now, almost all logs are online. Only the ones from last night are still missing. This, and the fighter of the month will be done by tomorrow. Other than that I haven't had the time for including the All-In fight types in a proper way. So the two fights mentioned below are still overdue to post. But that's not forgotten, but just postponed.

ARRGHH!
July 27, 2001            posted by Velaskin
Okay, okay... I know what you're probably thinking... "Why are the recent logs still not online??? What is this darn guy doing over there???" Well, what can I say...
*holds his right hand up* I do promise to bring them all online this weekend!

Other than that we're proud to announce that the mixed tag team section has been opened =D)
You might notice that the coloring of this log doesn't yet comply to the PnP standard (warm colors for female fighters and cold ones for male fighters). I'm gonna fix that this weekend (hopefully). But I guess the most important part is to have the logs online, right? =)

When you browse the logs, you'll find a "3-way-fight" still missing (among others... I know, I know...). Well, the script that is handling the ranking can't yet deal with this type of fight. Only one fight of that kind happened until now. It's gonna be that way, that such a fight will be ranked for each fighter individually. That means:
The one winner will get 2 points and the 2 losers will get 0.5 points. In case of a draw all three will get 1 point for the try. As soon as the script is "fixed" to deal with it, the log is gonna be posted. The one 3-way-fight that already has happened is gonna be included in this special ranking as well.
Additionally this category of fights (3-, 4-, 5-, 'whatever'-way, resp. more than 2 fighters and "all in" or "tagged in", but all versus all) will be an "all in" category. That means, the ranking won't differ between mixed or non-mixed fights.

"Yo, McFly!!!"

Since the last news entry is just below, I may just say it's still the way it is. Still I'm a bit occupied with RL stuff, but although the site won't get a daily update at the moment, nothing gets lost and everything (logs, articles, etc.) will find its way in here. Just be a bit patient with me... even if this is hard at times =D)

Other than that we have some news to mention:

Our IRC channel #Pain-n-Passion has two additional OPs since a couple of days:
AmyBrat and redhead25m
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome both. Good luck and most of all do have fun! That's an order =D))

Some of you might wonder about the fighter of the month for June 2001. Well, if you take a look at the June rankings you'll find two with the same point count. We updated the ranking rules for this title to solve that issue. The title was introduced to honor the efforts of a fighter during a month, and so we hope that you will like our approach. If not, please drop me a line, or talk to one of the OPs in #Pain-n-Passion. Keep in mind that we're doing this for you folks and not for our own pleasure (although we like what we're doing here =D).

Nope-- I'm not yet dead =D))

Well, as said, I'm not dead =D))
It's just that some real life issues keep your "personal PnP webmaster" a bit occupied. You might have already noticed that the log updates take a couple of days at times. But be sure that everything is alright and the site will be maintained =)
Have fun =D

Technical problems---
May 20, 2001            posted by webmasters
Due to some technical problems a site update couldn't be done within the past few days. Additionally the site appeared to be down during the weekend. We apologize for any inconveniences.

Title Dedication --
May 8, 2001            posted by webmasters
As you know, Pain & Passion is honoring the efforts of the fighters in our channels with titles, based on our ranking system. You have surely noticed that one title has been owned by our late co-founder Mareenaya. In her time she has achieved a very high point count, which was hard to achieve for other fighters.
Now the time has come, that this ranking was reached by another fighter.
We here at Pain & Passion think, that this title does have a very special meaning. We think, it is safe to assume, that no one could have taken this title from Mareenaya, if she still would be with us. So we decided to dedicate this title to her, thus granting her an unfading honor, and at the same time, honoring the efforts of the ones, having been able to make the step up to this title, in an even more special way.

Congratulations

log entry page has been "fixed" --
April 26, 2001            posted by Velaskin
Hi there,
this time it's a very personal "news" entry. Something from me (Velaskin, your webmaster) to you, the visitors of this site. I had changed the IRC Channel Logs entry page and thought of this to be a good idea. Once again I asked for feedback in which way ever. This site has a forum, there's the Yahoo club, my email addy is spreaded all over the site, I'm on IRC pretty often-- but all I got was three (yep, three only) people who said, it's cool, and some bad talk behind my back (hi c.--), although I always tried to be helpfull. But well, it appears to be a problem to read emails at times (hi again c.--).

For the ones who didn't encounter any problem, that's what happened: If your screen resolution is less than 800x600 the new log entry page didn't show the months/names list properly. Not that there wouldn't be a line in here saying that the whole site is supposed to be viewed at 800x600 min. =/

By all means, I thought I'm doing this site for you folks, and so I'm depending on your feedback. But instead you all keep dead quiet and complain behind my back without even trying to talk to me. Well, all I can say is that I'm pretty much disappointed and pretty close to drop all this here--- =(

For now I've "fixed" the IRC Channel Logs entry page. I tested it explicitly at a screen resolution of 640x480 and it works. If you still encounter a problem, hit the refresh button of your browser. It might happen, that the older version is still in the browser's cache.

male vs. male fightrankings now available
April 17, 2001            posted by webmasters
Pain & Passion is proud to announce to have opened up the rankings for straight male 1on1 fights. Due to that we rearranged the rankings entry page a little bit. We hope, it doesn't look too cluttered now =)

log management update
April 12, 2001            posted by webmasters
What a title for this news entry, eh? =D)
Well we have done a little update to our IRC Channel Logs section. Now it's not only possible to choose from a month's name, but additionally you can now access the log files through a fighter's name. This feature will list you all the logs a particular fighter was in.
I hardly dare to say it again, but um-- *thinks*, we would be glad about a little feedback now and then. In case you didn't yet notice, we have a forum *hint-hint* -- anways, have fun browsing the logs with this new feature.

Our Forum ---
Mar. 31, 2001            posted by webmasters
We have slightly changed the look of our Forum. It now doesn't open in a new browser windows anymore, but stays within the Pain & Passion site. Additionally we've cropped down the categories, so it's easier to place a posting. Still it's not necessary to register a nick in order to post. If you don't want to register a nick for the forum, just enter a name, and leave the password field blank.

WOOHOO !!!

... lions and tigers and updates, oh my ! =)
Mar. 14, 2001            posted by webmasters
Well, what can be said. You're already here and you see what happened. We've done a major redesign once again. We hope it's to your liking...
Addtionally we've some new stuff to show:
  • We are proud to feature a new IRC channel. It's called #Wrestling_Training_Center, and the name is program there =)
  • We opened up two new divisions for the fight rankings. Other than the all time great fem vs. fem, we now feature a ranking for mixed fights and tag team fights.
  • You will find new features. Well, er, the whole feature thing is new in that matters, but we now have a special area for TheFirm and High Impact Studios. Both are fantasy based scenarios. For now you'll find fight logs there, but the areas will grow...
  • And last but least we will have a wrestling reference for all who always wanted to know, how this flippin' "moonthrow with turned in ankles and instant win capability" actually is performed. J/k. But we will have a gallery of moves and throws as a reference. The link is already there as a teaser and reminder, but it will take a bit to bring it on the road.

  • ... hey, er, how about some feedback now ? =D

    Farewell ...
Feb. 25, 2001             posted by webmasters
Today, we lost our dearest friend Marion (Mareenaya).

In every lifetime there are things that constantly challenge our will to continue. These challenges are met by things that strengthen us, and every so often, such a thing shines through, making life seem so beautiful it defies description by mere words. We speak from experience when we talk about these things, because we have seen such beauty first hand. That beauty is in the heart and soul of a beautiful person. Mareena, even though we only knew each other for a short time, we all loved you to pieces. The short time we were allowed to spend with you showed us your pure heart, your compassion, and most of all your child-like innocence, which gave us an inspiration and showed us a side of life never known to be existent. Being around you seemed to find a serenity in our hearts that was has been always there, but never has brought to the surface. The pure simple honesty we felt in you was often the inspiration that helped us to find the strength to go on when the heart was aching. Just so that everyone knows, you are not dead, these tears of sorrow in our eyes will one day dry and be replaced by tears of joy. Joy because we were privileged to have known you, and even more privileged to call you "friend". This very joy and passion, which appeared to be so inherent in your life. This very life with all its moments of joy and passion which has been taken away from you in a glimpse of a moment. An unexpected twist in fate made it happen. This twist made you fall asleep and within taking a long journey. Farewell on your journey! Mareena we love you. Your spirit will be in our hearts and thoughts.

slight change in title update schedule ...

As you know, our site is updated regularly. Some areas though happen to be updated rarely... so in this case we'd like to mention a new entry in the various logs'n stuff section. A nice ringside brawl happened last night at the PnP <g>. Btw, the announced fight between SandraWrestler and mareenaya was just postponed and will most likely happen next weekend... so stay tuned <g>

Ok, where shall I start... first off, this might not be the right place for this, but I think, since these news are on the main page, they will be read. Last night I was witnessing some harassment in our channel. Appearently some "person" thought it would be a big time joke to kick someone with the nickserv ghost command over and over again... Well, I don't find that funny.
I'd like to give you some advices and recommendations, which might help to prevent that in the future:

Oh, and Windows users might notice a slight change of appearance of the site. We changed the default font from Tahoma to Verdana.

Jan. 11, 2001             posted by webmasters
Some of you might have noticed, that we were a bit outstanding with the logfiles... well, due to the fact that the logfile updates took quite some time every day (the colors and the rankings), we decided to make up a complete different approach to this. We won't bore you with technical details here, but now it's a PHP solution (oops, now it's mentioned ... <g>), which makes it much easier and much less time consuming to keep the site up to date <s>. Right now we're only one day ahead, which will probably be "resolved" by tomorrow.
Have fun reading all the new logs of the past actionpacked days =D

Pain & Passion will feature another IRC channel along with ours. It's #the_dark_arena. This channel will have regular (public) fights, of which most of them will be posted. Furthermore the channel will feature a "fighter of the month", based on a point rating.
All this requires a "small major" update of the site. We try to get this done within the next days.
