Things were really starting to heat up. We had produced and marketed numerous videos of varying content. The matches had started off as being staged shows with real wrestling moves, but as time moved on, many of the matches had become real grudge matches with no staged or rehearsed sequences. The result? Some of the best wrestling action I have ever seen. I was beginning to see a fierce competitiveness developing amongst the girls in the company. Oh sure they were all friends, with the exception of a few girls, but they all longed to be the best in the company. I would often walk in on a conversation regarding how one girl could kick anothers ass in the ring. I suppose that any time you have a close contact sport, whether its real or fake, you will develop some sort of rivalry.
This gave me an idea. Maybe we should determine a champion. It would give the girls a goal to shoot for, and set aside any question as to who is the best. I set up a meeting with all the girls in the company, and we discussed how we could determine a champion. Many ideas were tossed around, but the best one was a tournament between all the girls. No one would be forced to participate, but the winner would receive a healthy cash bonus as well as the status of Champion. The girls were all in agreement that this would be the best way to determine a champ. Now came the tough part, making the rules. After what seemed like an eternity, we all finally agreed on how the tournament should go.
First, all the matches would be pro rules and have twenty minute time limits, with submissions or KO's only. A girl would be considered KOed if she remained motionless for ten or more seconds after the KOing move was applied on her. Convulsions or other involuntary movements did not count as motions.
Second, if a winner was not determined after twenty minutes, a special rematch would be scheduled between the combatants in which each girl was allowed to bring her choice of "items" to the ring to use as she see's fit to help her defeat her opponent. The only rule here was that no stabbing or cutting objects be used. Brigette suggested this rule, which was no surprise to me.
Third rule was that the winner of the tournament would give the runner up a rematch if and when she wanted. With all the rules decided, it was time to determine who would face who in the first round. All the girls wanted to participate in the tournament, so we decided to pull names from a hat. Half the girls put their names in the hat, and the other half picked. Even Lisa's friend Carmen, who had just finished her training and had yet to have her first company match, included her name. This is how the first round turned out.
Megan vs. Heidi
Jennifer vs. Carmen
Lisa vs. Bridgette
Amanda vs. Lynn
With the first round determined, we were ready to rumble. I'll let
you know how the matches turn out as they happen. Stay tuned.
